About “Flow | Khuluka”
Surface water is the lifeblood of the bushveld. It is said that all animal pathways will eventually lead to a source of water. Whether it’s bound in a vast dam or puddled in a deep elephant track — like a pumping heart, life will flow inward and outward from the source.
Flow = “Khuluka” in Tsonga, the predominant African language from the region in which these tracks were collected.

Artist’s Note
“My goal for this piece was to portray a lot of motion and contrast. The four circles surrounded by a flowing pattern were the initial concept and I wanted it to look like many things. For example, some people see flowing blood, some a snake, others a face. The idea was to create patterns and shapes that were distinct yet open to the viewer’s interpretations.”
