About “Roots | Timintsu”
The ground is not a dead thing. It is a world to itself and supports many vital functions of nature. Healthy soils foster the muscular trunks of marulas, the might of leadwood, and cathedrals of mopani. Our landscapes are shaped by the quality of the earth beneath our feet.
Roots = “Timintsu” in Tsonga, the predominant African language from the region in which these tracks were collected.

Artist’s Note
“Although much of my work focuses on animals, I try to use my art to inspire appreciation for all forms of life. This painting represents the things we cannot see, but perhaps on some level, we can still sense; the transfer of nutrients, the talking of trees, sprouting seeds, and decomposing life.”
